Like the Wind - for String Orchestra (2023)
Commissioned by the Wisconsin Arts Board in celebration of its 50th Anniversary.
String Orchestra - Medium Easy
Like the Wind was commissioned by the Wisconsin Arts Board to celebrate its 50th anniversary. The piece was inspired by the poem of the same title (also commissioned by the WAB) by Wisconsin poet laureate Dasha Kelly Hamilton. The poem celebrates the creative process and the creativity in all of us. The poem served as the basis for lyrics, which were turned into a song. This song was arranged into three musical versions: choir with piano, string orchestra, and concert band. The music, poem, and K-12 arts curriculum created by master educators is being distributed for FREE by the Wisconsin Arts Board Hamilton/Svanoe composition project through the 2023-24 school year. |
