My father-in-law, Edward Evensen, has been the director of the Claremont American Band in Claremont, New Hampshire, since 1969. The Claremont American Band is a civic band that has been in continual operation since the 1880s, and its classic repertoire is mostly vintage editions of Sousa, Karl King, R. B. Hall, and military marches. This piece was written in the style of vintage marches, and features the clarinet section (optional clarinet solo). |
